LOT is designed to keep your private journal entries secure. We use end-to-end encryption, meaning your private thoughts are encrypted on your device before they ever reach our servers.

Shared Posts

• Private entries: Encrypted on-device before syncing. Only you can decrypt and read them.
• When you share to Friends or Public: The post becomes visible to others based on your chosen audience.
• Anonymous sharing: Hides your username from viewers, but internal identifiers may exist for safety and moderation purposes.

Reporting & Moderation

• Users can report shared content that violates our Community Guidelines.
• LOT may review reported content to enforce guidelines and maintain community safety.
• Minimal data may be retained for abuse prevention and safety purposes.

What We Collect

Information You Provide

• Email address: Used to create your account and enable sync across devices.
• Journal entries: Encrypted on your device before being stored on our servers. We cannot decrypt or read them.

Automatically Collected

• Device identifier: A unique ID to sync your data securely.
• Usage timestamps: When you create, edit, or delete entries (for sync purposes only).

How We Protect Your Data

End-to-End Encryption

Every journal entry is encrypted on your device using strong encryption before being uploaded. Only you hold the keys to decrypt your content.

Secure Storage

• Encryption standard: AES-GCM (industry-standard symmetric encryption)
• Authentication: Firebase Authentication
• Database: Google Cloud Firestore with strict access rules

How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

• Provide and maintain the LOT service
• Sync your encrypted entries across devices
• Communicate important updates about the app
• Improve performance and fix bugs

We do not:

• Sell your data to third parties
• Run ads
• Share your information except as required by law
• Train AI models on your entries

Privacy commitments:

• Private entries are encrypted on-device
• Shared posts are only visible to the audience you choose

Data Retention

Your encrypted entries remain on our servers as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all data is permanently removed within 30 days.

Deleted entries are removed from our servers within 30 days of deletion.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access your data at any time through the app
• Delete individual entries or your entire account
• Request information about data we store
• Withdraw consent by deleting your account

Third-Party Services

LOT uses the following third-party services:

• Firebase (Google): For authentication and encrypted data storage
• Apple TestFlight: For beta testing distribution

These services operate under their own privacy policies. We've chosen providers with strong privacy commitments.

Children's Privacy

LOT is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.

We may update this policy from time to time. Continued use of LOT after changes means you accept the updated policy.
